Top of foot pain is a generic term that is used to describe any discomfort in the top of the foot and it is not a exact diagnosis.Usually top of foot pain is a sharp pain which can be located on the top surface of the foot near the second toe. There are times when the pain sensation can be located around the 3rd and 4th metatarsal. There's two ways that you may get top of foot pain. Top of foot pain can be the consequence of a stress fracture or tendonitis of a metatarsal tendon. When a high force exercise such as running is carried out with injuries like plantar fasciitis, shin pain and other overuse injuries, this combination can result in top of the foot pain. Sometimes top of the foot pain is very severe that standing for brief moments will be agony. The reason for this severe agony is a problem known as over pronation. It is possible to manage the discomfort by wearing foot orthotics. There are other things which can bring about top of foot pain. Ganglions which are sacs of jelly-like fluid develop following a rupture in the joint capsules. The ganglions form on the top of the foot and they are causes of top of foot pain.
The other causes are Morton’s Neuroma that is something commonly seen by Podiatrists. It is an inflammation of a nerve which is between your 3rd and 4th metatarsal bones. In this case the bones get squeezed together and pinch the nerve that's between them. The pain from this can sometimes trigger top of foot pain. Furthermore claw toes can result in top of foot pain. In this issue one of the toes is bent sideways. This bent look causes the toes to seem misshapen. Due to the toe becoming bent sideways it is not easy to put on footwear and frequently it’s uncomfortable to walk. Because of this hammer toes can give rise to top of foot pain.
There are lots of other foot injuries which could result in top of foot pain. The simplest way to help handle this condition is to wear foot orthotics that provide some support and comfort to your foot. The foot orthotics handle the main cause of the foot discomfort which in turn causes top of foot pain. The insoles stop the discomfort from happening again. Another method that you may help ease the effects of top of foot pain is by wearing foot wraps. These have been manufactured to give pain relief to the top of foot discomfort. This foot wrap will help you move about without feeling a great amount of pain. By putting on a foot wrap you are not restricted to one place, and your pain is light. If you are not getting anywhere with this issue, then it might pay to go to a podiatrist.
